Thank you for choosing to review our practice. We look forward to providing you with the "best'" Chiropractic experience possible that encourages personal growth and development towards optimal health.
Think Chiropractic is just for neck and back issues? Think again - think performance - think wellness " naturally ".
Our practice members visit the office for various reasons, ranging from severe pain or symptoms to more chronic nagging aches. Many people want maintenance or wellness care.We have athletes looking for better performance. Children come to see us for wellness spinal check-ups or for problems from infantile colic, to bed-wetting, to hyperactivity.
Even though 90% of people that receive Chiropractic care get well, Chiropractic does not actually treat specific problems or symptoms. What Chiropractic does is correct Subluxations. Now the big question: what is subluxation? Subluxation is pressure on or irritation of the nervous system, which reduces nerve supply from the brain to the body, or the other way around. This can be very dangerous in that it can reduce function in vital organs and tissues. Sometimes symptoms are not present until it is too late.
It is not possible to have subluxations and health in the same body.
Unfortunately, subluxations do not always cause immediate signs or symptoms, but they will eventually. The purpose of the Chiropractor is to find, reduce and eventually correct the subluxation by performing Chiropractic adjustments. Adjustments are stimulations to the nervous system, that over time reduce subluxations and allow healing to occur.
The purpose of the first visit is to determine whether you have subluxation. This is done through a thorough history taking, a spinal examination, SEMG and Thermograph (scans) and, if needed, X-Rays (on site) .
On the second visit, we discuss the results found and set up a healing program. This program is not determined by symptoms but by the reduction of subluxations. The doctor, using palpation (feeling the spine), monitors this reduction and will modify the program as required. Palpations and scans (Thermal and EMG scanning detailed below) are done on a regular basis so that your treatment program is always up-to-date.
The Thermal scan measures the temperature of your skin on each side of the spine from your tailbone to your head. Any differences in temperature from one side to the other show up on the printout. If your nervous system causes your capillaries to expand then more blood circulates and the temperature of the skin goes up. If the nervous system tells these capillaries to constrict, then less blood flows and the temperature of the skin drops. If one side is a different temperature than the other, this indicates some interference with the organ nerves. Of greater consequence is if the thermal pattern remains "stuck" over time.
The Surface EMG (Electromyogram) is the other part of the new technology. Every time that a muscle contracts, it gives off a very small electrical signal. This is what is picked up when you get a electrocardiogram for your heart. The surface EMG scan is 1000 times more sensitivethan a electrocardiogram. At each level of the spine, the electrical signal is measured to see if there is too much or too little muscle contraction at any level. It also checks to see if this level of muscle contraction is symmetrical on both sides of the spine. Thousands of patients have been examined this way to determine what the normal amount of muscle tension is at every level of the spine. Areas of imbalance indicate nerve interference to the muscle nerves mentioned above.
